Aftercare Instuctions

  • Stage 1: Days 1–6
    Light plasma, ink, or fluid weeping is normal, Redness and swelling similar to a sunburn, Scabbing may or may not form

    Stage 2: Days 7–14
    Itching and flaking begin, Skin will continue peeling until all dead skin is gone

    Stage 3: Days 15–30
    Tattoo may look healed but appear slightly cloudy or dull, Deeper skin layers are still repairing—continue gentle care

  • Keep the Saniderm/Second Skin on for the amount of time recommended by your artist.
    Remove it slowly and gently in the shower.
    Allergy Notice: About 50% of people are sensitive to adhesives.

    If you notice irritation, redness, or a negative reaction, remove the Saniderm/Second Skin immediately and follow the standard aftercare steps below.

  • 1. Wash, Always wash your hands before touching your tattoo. Gently clean the tattoo with warm water and diluted, unscented, liquid antibacterial soap.
    Do not over-wash. Clean it once daily, or only if it becomes dirty.
    2. Dry, Pat dry gently with a clean paper towel. Allow the skin to rest for a few minutes.
    3. Moisturize, Apply a thin layer of unscented lotion (recommend Aveeno).
    Do not apply lotion more than three times per day. Over-care can be worse than under-care—moisturize just enough to prevent excessive dryness.

    Healing Time
    Most tattoos heal within 2–3 weeks, depending on your health and aftercare routine.

    AVOID:

    Direct water pressure,
    Scented soaps or body products,
    Hot tubs, pools, lakes, oceans, rivers
    Baths or soaking of any kind,
    Saunas, steam rooms, tanning beds,
    Direct sunlight or sunburn,
    Excess sweating or strenuous exercise Abrasion/friction(tight clothes, rubbing, etc.) Dirty clothing, bedding, pet hair, human hair, dust, dirt, Harsh detergents and dryer sheets.

    DO NOT:

    Sleep directly on your tattoo, Pick, scratch, peel, or rub the area, Re-bandage the tattoo,
    Follow aftercare advice from non-artists, Every tattoo and artist uses different processes—follow your artist’s instructions.

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:


    Even with proper care, some factors may slow the healing process. Conditions such as:
    Diabetes, Anemia, Autoimmune disorders, Vascular conditions, Vitamin deficiencies. Other influencing factors include age, diet, smoking, varicose veins, and naturally dry skin.
